Many breastfeeding women want to increase the supply of milk for their baby during their breastfeeding journey. Majority of women do not have any problem with their breast’s ability to produce milk, the main reason for problems in breastfeeding is poor latch but it can always be rectified and that too very easily.
If you ever have doubt or have issues with your baby’s latch or even if you’re not sure you should seek the advice of a certified lactation consultant. They can easily observe and diagnose a breastfeeding problem. So asking them will rectify the problem if there is any and if not you will get the satisfaction that everything is right. Here are some tips to increase your milk supply:
1. Don’t make any feeding routines
You can always prevent crying of the baby if you successfully pick up the hunger signals. Always feed your baby whenever they want to have milk or offer the breast even if you’re not sure if they are hungry. Always remember, the more your baby feeds, the more your breast will produce.
2. Avoid nipple shields or bottles unless absolutely required
The less your baby feeds the less your nipples will be stimulated for more milk and you will make less feed for the baby. Get advice from the consultant before you get a nipple shield.
You can always increase the milk production in your breast provided you follow right breastfeeding techniques and go for regular checkup to child-specialist.
