Researchers from this study said that the number of women who ate placenta was increased in the last few years. All of those women believed that eating placenta has several health benefits. Researchers said that there are no benefits of eating cooked, raw placenta or in pill form.
Women eat placenta because it should: increase energy, reduce pain after childbirth, help with bonding between mother and child and help with breast milk production. In reality, there are no benefits like this. Also, the placenta may contain viruses and bacteria.
Cynthia Coyle from the Northwestern University, said that women don’t know how to store and prepare placenta. They don’t even know what the correct dosage is.
